 ter understand what their kids are thinking and how they think and learn.<

 June 16.</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Panelists</strong></p>\n<p><strong>
 Jim Egenrieder</strong> is one of the first people in the country with STE
 M in their title. His team created the first Governor&rsquo\;s first STEM 
 Academy and the STEM education programs in Arlington County where the STEM
  acronym was created. Jim is a research professor in the College of Engine
 ering\, and on the teaching faculty in both the College of Liberal Arts an
 d Human Sciences and the College of Natural Resources. He is also director
  of the Virginia Tech Thinkabit Lab in the Washington\, D.C.\, metro area 
 where in normal times\, over 7000 people visit annually to learn about the
  foundations of computer science\, engineering\, and preparing for the tec
 hnical workforce of the future.</p>\n<p><br /><strong>Erika Bonnett</stron
 g> is a 4-H Program Development Specialist with Virginia Tech and Virginia
  Cooperative Extension. She has worked in extension and youth development 
 for 15 years with hands-on education and learning. She has a background in
  STEM education and a Ph.D. with a focus in engineering and STEM education
 . She also works heavily in the areas of curriculum development and educat
