X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>From Pulitzer Prize-winner Katherine Boo\,
a landmark work of narrative nonfiction that tells the dramatic and somet
imes heartbreaking story of families striving toward a better life in one
of the twenty-first century's great\, unequal cities. In this brilliantly
written\, fast-paced book\, based on three years of uncompromising reporti
ng\, a bewildering age of global change and inequality is made human.</p>\
n<p>The Diversity Book Club is hosted monthly by AAUW Alexandria / Women B
uilding Cross-Cultural Friendships (WBCCF) and co-sponsored by the Alexand
ria Burke Branch Library.</p>\n<p>WBCCF's goal is to give women the opport
unity in a diverse and inclusive group to enrich their own lives through t
hese relationships and help amplify the voices of all women in our communi
ty. WBCCF&nbsp\;believes that the opportunity to come together to explore
issues of race\, religion\, ethnicity\, etc. through well-chosen books wil
l not only further our individual learning but also create a setting in wh
ich we might ultimately decide on a community undertaking with wider impli
cations.</p>\n<p>The Diversity Book Club meets on the Second Monday of eac
h month at 7:00 PM.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>A zoom account is not required to join\
, but a microphone is! Most mobile devices have microphones installed. If
you're using a desk top\, most webcams also have microphones built in.</p>
