 today's world?</p>\n<p>In September 2005\, Ambassador Harriet L. Elam-Thom
 as retired from the U.S. Senior Foreign Service with the rank of career mi
 nister. During her four-decade Foreign Service career\, she demonstrated a
  remarkable dedication to the practice of bridging cultures.&nbsp\; Her va
 ried overseas assignments have taken her to Greece\, Turkey\, France\, Bel
 gium\, Senegal\, Mali and Cote d&rsquo\;Ivoire. In 2017\, she published th
 e book <em>Diversifying Diplomacy: My Journey from Roxbury to Dakar</em>\,
 &nbsp\;in which she tells her own story of being a young woman of color in
  the State Department\, and reflects on the history of women serving in&nb
 sp\;diplomatic and policy roles. In this presentation\, Ambassador Elam-Th
 omas will talk about her career\, her book\, and the importance of diversi
