 f Jesse will demonstrate how to cook Brunswick stew and hoe cakes.</p>\n<p
 >Hoe cakes were a convenient\, filling food used by slaves in the South to
  sustain them in the fields as they worked. These traditional Southern tre
 ats go by other names as well. Johnny cakes\, or &ldquo\;Journey&rdquo\; c
 akes meant the same thing.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Brunswick stew is usually a&nbsp
 \;tomato-based stew\, containing various types of&nbsp\;lima beans/butter 
 beans\,&nbsp\;corn\,&nbsp\;okra\, and other vegetables\, and one or more t
 ypes of&nbsp\;meat. Originally\, it was small game such as&nbsp\;squirrel\
 ,&nbsp\;rabbit\, or&nbsp\;possum&nbsp\;meat\, but&nbsp\;chicken&nbsp\;is m
