 Born on May 2\, 1729 in Prussia\, Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zer
 bst-Dornburg\, later known as Catherine II\, and Catherine the Great\, bec
 ame Empress of Russia in 1762\, and was instrumental in revitalizing Russi
 a\, and establishing it as a great European power.</p>\n<p>During Catherin
 e the Great&rsquo\;s reign\, Russia was expanding rapidly due to both dipl
 omacy and conquest\; as a result of this expansion\, Russian borders sprea
 d as far as the Black Sea and Central Europe.</p>\n<p>Catherine the Great 
 strongly supported both modernization\, and westernization\, an endeavor s
 tarted by her husband prior to his death. She was also a great proponent o
 f the Enlightenment in Europe\, and she promoted the education of Russian 
 citizens.</p>\n<p>During the reenactment\, Alisa Dupuy will regale with st
 ories of Catherine's life and reign.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Alisa Dupuy reenacted 
 the role of Queen Victoria in August 2019 at Bridgewater Library.</p>\n<p>
