\nDr. Gregory will describe the latest research on racial dis parities in school exclusionary discipline and offer a framework for incre asing racial equity. She will focus on school-based\, equity-oriented effo rts in the areas of social emotional learning and restorative justice prac tices. Dr. Gregory will draw on her own research findings about the real w orld challenges of policy and practice reform. She will also consider the struggles and opportunities for systems change in light of the dual pandem ics of racism and the coronavirus.
\nAnne Gregory\, Ph.D.\, is a pro fessor in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Ru tgers University. Dr. Gregory is a researcher in the area of racial and ge nder disparities in discipline and is currently examining school-wide rest orative practices and equity-oriented social and emotional learning. She h as authored over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous book chapt ers. Publications include\, \;The promise of restorative practices to transform teacher-student relationships and achieve equity in school disci pline\, \;and \;Social-emotional learning and equity in school dis cipline. \;Dr. Gregory recently received the Joseph E. Zins Early Care er Contributions Award from the \;Collaborative for Academic\, Social\ , and Emotional Learning (CASEL).
