Not \;Quite is Dr. Ada Cheng's interve ntion of current social \;issues as an artist-scholar. This performanc e will be 45 minutes\, followed by a 30-minute facilitated dialogue. \ ;

This presentation comprises storytelling performances\, mini-lec tures\, and a guided discussion. In this presentation\, Dr. Cheng will tel l personal stories to highlight some central issues pertinent to our curre nt immigration and citizenship debates. Key points include:
I. Citize nship in terms of having the certificate of naturalization vs. having a se nse of home and making it home in the United States\;
II. The existen ce of institutionalized processes and mechanisms of othering immigrants of color\;
III. The existence of structural inequalities\, and our repr oduction of inequalities through individual and institutional practices\;< br />IV. The importance of intersectionality\, linking immigration\, race\ , gender\, and sexuality.

About the presenter: Dr. \;Ada \ ;Cheng \;is a professor-turned-storyteller\, solo performer\, and stor ytelling show producer. \;She has also been featured at storytelling s hows and done her two solo performances all over the country. \;Ada&nb sp\;is the producer and the host of four storytelling shows\, including Po ur One Out\, Am I Man Enough?\, Talk Stories: An Asian American/Asian Dias pora Storytelling Show\, Speaking Truths Series\, and This Is America: Tru ths through My Body. She creates platforms for people to tell difficult an d vulnerable stories as well as for communities who may not have opportuni ties otherwise. She is the Education and Outreach Specialist with Women's Leadership and Resource Center at UIC. \;Her motto: Make your life the best story you tell. \;
