In honor of National Native American Herit age Month\, join writers Diane Glancy and Adam Tavel for a discussion of t hree of Diane's works: \;Island of Innocent: a Consideration of th e Book of Job \;(poetry and nonfiction in which Native American i ssues intrude)\, \;Mary Queen of Bees \;(novel) and \ ;The Book of Bearings \;(poetry). Part Cherokee and of Englis h and German descent\, Glancy was born in Kansas City\, Missouri. She has served as artist-in-residence for the Oklahoma State Arts Council (traveli ng around the state to teach poetry to Native American students) and has t aught Native American literature and creative writing at Macalester Colleg e in St. Paul\, Minnesota. Adam Tavel is the author of four books of poetr y\, including the forthcoming \;Sum Ledger \;(Measure Pre ss\, 2021). His most recent collection\, \;Catafalque\, won t he Richard Wilbur Award (University of Evansville Press\, 2018).
