 and the likelihood is high that industrialization\, urbanization and defor
 estation have caused most of the changes observed in the past 60 years.</p
 >\n<p>The citizens and businesses of the Commonwealth of Virginia are not 
 exempt from the changes Earth will experience during the rest of this cent
 ury&ndash\;there will be a new normal and we all need to prepare for it. K
 nowing where\, when\, and by how much climate will change in the Commonwea
 lth\, and what the impacts of those changes will be on citizens&rsquo\; li
 ves\, livelihoods and property\, are critically important aspects of plann
 ing and preparing for changes that are decades in the making.</p>\n<p>Dr. 
 Kinter will describe George Mason University research that is focused on t
 hese questions\, emphasizing what we have learned about predicting future 
 weather and climate in the mid-Atlantic region and what remains to be done
  to advance our understanding to actionable predictions.</p>\n<p>Registrat
