nity Connections where we will learn about the history of Betty Crocker an
d her famous cookbook.</p>\n<p>Long before Martha Stewart\, there was Bett
y Crocker. In 1950\, her brand-new Picture Cook Book hit shelves\, with sa

company\, Betty Crocker became the most famous and most trusted advisor to
American cooks. This fun illustrated lecture by historian Leslie Goddard\
, Ph.D.\, looks at how Betty Crocker was invented\, why her cookbook has e
ndured and what makes her so iconic. It's perfect if you're feeling like c
ooking up some nostalgia.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Leslie Goddard is an award-winnin
g actress and scholar who has been presenting history programs for more th
an ten years. She holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University specializing
in American studies and U.S. history as well as a master&rsquo\;s degree i
n theater. A former museum director\, she is the author of two books on hi
story and currently works full-time as an author and public speaker. Her p
rograms have been presented for hundreds of museums\, libraries\, senior c
enters\, clubs\, and other organizations around the country.</p>\n<p>This
program is pre-recorded video that will be available for viewing for a per
iod of two weeks. Look for links to the video on the Library's social medi
a accounts. No registration is required.</p>\n<p>Community Connections is
