 &nbsp\;Susan Ryeland&nbsp\;receives a manuscript for bestselling author&nb
sp\;Alan Conway. After working with Alan for years\, Susan is intimately f
amiliar with his classic detective character\,&nbsp\;Atticus P&uuml\;nd. A
lan&rsquo\;s novels are set in small English villages where everybody know
s everybody. Atticus solves grisly mysteries in these sleepy\, secret-harb
oring communities. The novels pay homage to the greats of crime fiction\,
including Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle.</p>\n<p>In Alan&rsquo\;s
latest story\,&nbsp\;Magpie Murders\, Atticus investigates two related de
aths in the small town of Saxby-on-Avon. Although Atticus is terminally il
l\, he travels to the town to unravel the mystery in a last act of detecti
ve work.&nbsp\;Mary Blakiston\, a local busybody and housekeeper of Pye Ha
ll\, dies in what seems like an accident. On the night of Mary&rsquo\;s fu
neral\, someone burgles Pye Hall. Two weeks later\, an unknown suspect mur
ders wealthy local&nbsp\;Magnus Pye. Atticus investigates each of the susp
icious villagers\, piecing together the events surrounding the two deaths.
&nbsp\;Magpie Murders&nbsp\;ends just as Atticus is about to reveal the mu
 rderer&rsquo\;s identity.</p>\n<p></p>\nhttps://toledo.libnet.info/event/4
