Our world has become increasingly complex with most day to day decisions requiring at least some digital literacy. C omputational Thinking\, or an approach to problem solving that uses a logi cal framework that allows a computer to solve the problem\, has become a f undamental skill for learning and future success. This talk will explore w hat skills are required for this type of thinking and how they are represe nted across the elementary curriculum and in teacher preparation.
\nDr. Julie Mueller is a Professor and Associate Dean with the Faculty of Education at Laurier. She was an e lementary teacher with the Waterloo District School Board for a decade bef ore completing her PhD in Social and Developmental Psychology. Julie's res earch investigates the integration of technology in teaching and learning with a current emphasis on computational thinking as a way of thinking. He r passion for active living has led her to also explore the use of exercis e bikes in classrooms and flexible learning spaces.
