\nWe all like to trave l\, and to take photographs\, but it isn&rsquo\;t necessary to travel far to indulge in photography. Your own yard and surrounding communities can o ffer wonderful photographic opportunities\, that we can all enjoy despite the travel prohibitions that the COVID pandemic has imposed. \;
\n< p>This lecture will highlight some of the rich photograph opportunities of fered in Somerset\, and surrounding counties within a twenty to thirty min utes drive that still allow one to be responsible and socially distant.\n\;In this program\, photographic &ldquo\;one-off&rdquo\; opport unities\, and seasonal themes\, returning to the same site in different mo nths of the year\, will be described. Exposure considerations and lenses f or those with DLSR&rsquo\;s will be discussed as will low-light and time e xposure photography. \;
\nThe lecture will conclude with some li ghthouse photographs around New Jersey and nationally that happens to be a personal passion of the photographer presenting this program.
\nPre senter: \;Gary Martin has been taking photographs for approximately th e past 60 years\, beginning with a Kodak Brownie camera\, then a successio n of first Pentax and then Nikon film cameras\, culminating with a Nikon F 5. He explored low light photography beginning in his film camera days\, l earning about exposure and things like the creative use of reciprocity fai lure when shooting Fuji slide film\, applying his analytical scientific tr aining in his photography. As photographic technology evolved\, he migrate d to digital camera bodies\, and continues to use several Nikon DSLR&rsquo \;s for his photographic work\, employing lens that range from an 8 mm fis h-eye lens to long telephoto lenses. \; While living in Michigan\, he was regular photo article contributor to "Great Laker" magazine\, and has more than 20 magazine covers to his credit\, many of them devoted to photo graphs shot in extreme weather and low-light conditions. \; \;&nbs p\;
\nWith the dangers and restrictions on travel imposed by the COV
ID-19 pandemic\, he has shifted from photographing far flung and often rem
ote lighthouses along our coasts and other countries to photographic theme
s in Somerset and the surrounding counties that will serve as the focus of
this presentation.
