al reefs\, the Maldives are a dream destination for many people. For diver
s\, the adventures only begin at the surface.&nbsp\; Explore several atoll
s and gain an understanding of why this island nation is at the center of
the climate change debate. Presented by Christopher Weaver and Michael Sal
 varezza.</p>\n<p>Eco-Photo Explorers\, a New York based organization was f
ormed in 1994 to promote interest in protecting the environment through kn
owledge and awareness as well as in underwater photography. Photography\,
multimedia slide presentations\, lectures and freelance writing are all us
ed to accomplish this goal. Their photography and writing have been featur
ed in many publications such as Natural Geographic Adventure\, Immersed\,
 Advanced Diver\, Discover Diving\, Diver Magazine\, Sport Diving\, Lightho
use Digest\, WW II Magazine and other national and international magazines
. Organizations such as Beneath the Sea (largest consumer dive show in Nor
th America)\, Boston Sea Rovers\, Our World Underwater\, the JASON Project
(founded by Robert Ballard)\, Long Island Diving Association (LIDA)\, the
&nbsp\; Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County (BOCES)
and the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium has also used their work.&nbsp\;&n
bsp\;</p>\n<p>Christopher Weaver and Michael Salvarezza\, who make up Eco-
Photo Explorers live on Long Island\, New York\, have been scuba diving to
gether since 1978 and started seriously photographing the undersea world i
n 1989. Since then\, they have spent hundreds of hours underwater accumula
ting and putting&nbsp\; together a large and varied library of stock photo
graphy.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>They have produced many multimedia slide pre
sentations that are designed to educate as well as enlighten the public ab
out the marine environment and the various threats that exist to destroy i
 t. These presentations are geared for all ages. While many of their images
come from around the world\, some of their best work is done right at hom
e in the waters off New York and New Jersey. Although their primary focus
is on underwater photography\, their programs also include a variety of na
ture and exotic destination photography as well as environmental images wh
 ere audiences can examine man&rsquo\;s impact on the Earth&rsquo\;s&nbsp\;
ecosystems.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>They continue to travel the world in an
ongoing quest to photograph those elusive creatures that inhabit the unde
rwater realm as well as document all threats to our environment.&nbsp\;&nb
