 >About the authors:</em></p>\n<p><strong>Mary Beth Modic</strong>\, DNP\, 
 APRN-CNS\, CDCES\,FAAN\, is a clinical nurse specialist in diabetes at Cle
 veland Clinic main campus. Dr. Modic has more than three decades of experi
 ence in nursing practice\, education\, consultation and research\, and her
  career encompasses positions such as staff nurse\, nursing education inst
 ructor and quality data specialist. She has taught undergraduate students 
 both clinically and in the classroom at Kent State University and is a lec
 turer at Case Western Reserve University&rsquo\;s Frances Payne Bolton Sch
 ool of Nursing.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Dr. Modic has published over 60 peer-review
 ed articles which have appeared in both nursing and medical journals and i
 s a national and international presenter. She served as a co-editor of a b
 ook written for the lay public entitled Navigating your Hospital Stay: A G
 uide Written by Expert Nurses. The book provides important information for
  people being admitted to the hospital. Each chapter concludes with freque
 ntly asked questions that will help individuals recover safely at home. Sh
 e was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in 2018.</
 p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Joyce Fitzpatrick</strong>\, PhD\, MBA\, RN\, FAAN
 \, is a nurse educator and advocate for nursing\, geriatrics\, psychologic
 al care\, and nursing theory. Dr. Fitzpatrick developed her interest in he
 alth care as a student at Georgetown University\, and she had a great desi
 re to learn and participate in nursing as an educator and leader to her pe
 ers. She continued to obtain higher degrees in nursing\, including serving
  a year as Fulbright scholar in Cork\, Ireland. She has become best known 
 for her new theory of nursing that involves lifetime health and care. Curr
 ently\, she sits in the Elizabeth Brooks Ford Professor of Nursing Chair a
 t the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing\, Case Western Reserve Univer
 sity and is Director of the Marian K. Shaughnessy Nurse Leadership Academy
 . She is a multi-published author with 395 articles in professional journa
 ls and over 80 books\, including nursing teaching texts.</p>\n<p>Dr. Fitzp
 atrick was the dean of the Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western for 15
  years. During her tenure\, the first chair for geriatric nursing in the n
 ation was established. Her work on geriatric nursing theory has opened thi
 s field to supported research and training. Dr. Fitzpatrick is currently e
 ditor of two professional journals:&nbsp\;Applied Nursing Research\,&nbsp\
 ;and the&nbsp\;Archives of Psychiatric Nursing.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Pr
