This program aims to increase cultural awareness and diversity for you th about Haiti. It also gives the youth a workshop on literacy\, composing poetry\, and storytelling inspired by their environment and cultural infl uences.
\nBroward County Library is celebrating Haitian Heritage Mon th in May 2021 with a robust series of programs for the entire family. As a part of this program series to be inclusive of teens\, this online progr am seeks to inspire their creativity while increasing their knowledge of H aiti.
\nIn this session\, Mecca aka Grimo will teach students about the richness of Haitian culture\, art\, music\, history\, and literature. He will facilitate the session with an engaging lecture\, musical presenta tion\, art exhibits\, poetry\, and storytelling.
\nMecca has created his vision in his company &ldquo\;Haiti Was Born In Me&rdquo\;. His love for music and a combination with his love for his heritage has helped him transform his art into a vehicle of hope and pride in the Haitian communit y. The younger Haitians embrace his mastery of lyrics and the way he fines ses American club beats. The older Haitians embrace his drive to educate t hrough music. Mecca is also a Spoken Word Artist/Poet.
