This week (3/18): Deaf History Month Book Tal k and ASL Basics Class

\n

National Deaf History Month is celebrated from March 13 through April 15 to commemorate the achievements of people w ho are deaf and hard of hearing. The time frame is spread across March and April in recognition of three turning points in deaf education history da ting back to the early 1800s.

\n

Teen Librarians Joel and Jordan will go over some fantastic books and other collection items available through the Library that relate to Deaf History or prominently feature d/Deaf cha racters.

\n

We will then learn some basic signs in American Sign Lang uage\, including the alphabet\, simple self introductions\, and more! This section will be co-taught by one of our Teen Librarians and a local Deaf teen.
