In honor of National Poetry Month\, singer -songwriter Chris Vallillo presents a selection of poetry by Carl Sandburg paired with original songs and instrumentals plus several songs Sandburg himself collected as a folklorist. ​Sometimes described as &ldquo\; Illinois&rsquo\; pre-eminent prairie-poet singer-songwriter\," Vallillo&rs quo\;s work has long been compared to that of Sandburg. Like the great poe t\, Vallillo is also a folklorist who spent several years collecting and d ocumenting the music of rural Illinois\, and he incorporates these traditi onal materials into his original music to make the people and places of &l dquo\;unmetropolitan&rdquo\; America come to life.
