 oodman Brown.&rdquo\; Punishment is ruthless for his characters\, and free
 dom from these vices seems far off. Is mercy ultimately granted to them? I
 s Hawthorne&rsquo\;s sense of justice fitting for their sins? Or are there
  darker demons lurking throughout these texts?</p>\n<p>In this program\, w
 e will&nbsp\; explore these questions and get to know on a deeper level th
 e famed Hester Prynne\, her Pearl\, Mr. Chillingworth\, Dimmesdale the min
 ister\, and others in Hawthorne&rsquo\;s novel and short stories. They wil
 l slowly reveal to us the layers of evil that can be threaded throughout a
