Tia Mitchell \;will be in conversation with Gwinnett County Public Library&rsquo\;s Director of Customer Experie nce. She was sitting in the U.S. House chamber watching the election certi fication process when a group of rioters breached the Capitol. Both chambe rs were locked down by the U.S. Capitol Police. \;

Law enforce ment then evacuated most of the lawmakers leaving Ms. Mitchell and others in the third-floor visitor galleries to shelter in place. She will talk ab out that harrowing afternoon. \;

Tia Mitchell is the AJC&r squo\;s Washington correspondent. In this role\, she writes about Georgia& rsquo\;s congressional delegation\, campaigns\, elections\, and the impact that decisions made in D.C. have on residents of the Peach State. She cur rently serves as chair of the Political Task Force for the National Associ ation of Black Journalists.
