This presentation provides an overview of all records and resources that are useful to the Jewish researchers in sea rch of their Chicagoland roots. We begin with a brief history of the Jews of Chicago. The seminar mostly concentrates on the uniquely Jewish resourc es such as cemeteries\, funeral homes\, life in Jewish Chicago which inclu des online publications which are searchable. It also covers the naturaliz ation process\, location/residence records\, and legal documents including wills and probate files. \;
\nPresented by professional speaker and genealogist\, Mike Karsen. \;Mike Karsen \;is a member of the Association of \;Professional Genealogists (APG)\, the Genealogical Speakers Guild (GSG)\, and is Past President of the Jewish Genealogical So ciety of Illinois. He has presented over 300 talks on genealogy topics loc ally\, nationally\, and internationally including Newberry Library and Spe rtus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership in Chicago. Mike is the author of the JewishGen website "Guide to Jewish Genealogy in Chicagoland" and has published articles on genealogy.
