X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>The path to freedom from slavery in our co
unty took many forms. Join us on a virtual tour of our three officially de
signated National Park Network to Freedom sites. Learn the origin stories
of enslaved peoples who escaped Sotterley Plantation during the War of 181
2\; the tragedies of those recaptured and held in the Old Jail\, along wit
h the allies trying to help them\; and also the history of the &lsquo\;con
traband camp&rsquo\; of escaped enslaved peoples outside the Civil War POW
camp at Point Lookout. Our local historians will be there to guide you al
ong the Trail and answer all your questions. In addition to exploring our
history\, we&rsquo\;ll be joined by local author Wayne Karlin\, who has wo
ven these real life situations into a work of historical fiction entitled
<em>A Wolf by the Ears</em>\, which is set in St. Mary&rsquo\;s County in
 1814.</p>\nhttps://stmalib.libnet.info/event/5040305
