Virginia\, interracial intimacy - including cross-racial adoption\, romance\, and friendship - has exploded and Cashi n speculates that it\, combined with immigration\, demographic\, and gener ational change\, contributes to an ascendant coalition of culturally dexte rous whites and people of color. "Loving" is both a history of white supre macy and a hopeful treatise on the future of race relations in America.

mes Book Review \;(2004). Cashin is the Carmack Waterhouse Professor o
f Law\, Civil Rights and Social Justice at Georgetown University\, and an
active member of the Poverty and Race Research Action Council. A contribut
