You will come away with a firm understandi ng of how to create a variety of signs styles and types that can be made u sing our Laser Cutter. You can take all three workshops or only one depend ing on your current skill level.
\nYou will leave with either a fini shed file or the skills and confidence needed to make your own signs and o ther finished products. Completed files can then be emailed to oporeception@ideaexchange.org to b e created\, or the member can book a time in the space and see the project come to life in person.
\nMay 1st - The first of our workshop s
eries will be for those who have no previous experience with the laser cut
ter or using 2D drawing software. We will create a basic sign that is eleg
ant and simple. Skills covered will be opening a new document\, drawing ba
sic shapes\, using proper line widths\, and adding simple text.
May 8th &ndash\; This intermediate workshop will build u
pon the previous one but will introduce a few new concepts that will allow
the member to make more complex signs. In this workshop\, you will learn
raster engraving and vector etching.
May 15th - This final sig n workshop will again build on the previous skill learned and introduce la yering multiple images together\, the knife tool\, and welding. We will al so look at tracing a little more in-depth\, which taken all together\, wil l allow you to create as complex signs as you can envision.
