You will come away with a firm understandi
ng of how to create a variety of signs styles and types that can be made u
sing our Laser Cutter. \; You can take all three workshops or only one
depending on your current skill level.
You will leave with either a
finished file or the skills and confidence needed to make your own signs a
nd other finished products. Completed files can then be emailed to oporeception@ideaexchange.org
to be created\, or the member can book a time in the space and see the pro
ject come to life in person.
May 1st \; - The first of our
workshop series will be for those who have no previous experience with th
e laser cutter or using 2D drawing software. We will create a basic sign t
hat is elegant and simple. Skills covered will be opening a new document\,
drawing basic shapes\, using proper line widths\, and adding simple text.

May 8th &ndash\; \; This intermediate workshop
will build upon the previous one but will introduce a few new concepts tha
t will allow the member to make more complex signs. In this workshop\, you
will learn raster engraving and vector etching.
May 15th< /strong> \; - This final sign workshop will again build on the previou s skill learned and introduce layering multiple images together\, the knif e tool\, and welding. We will also look at tracing a little more in depth\ , which taken all together\, will allow you to create as complex signs as you can envision.
