Local historian Susan Young will help you meet some legendary beasts who once roamed the Ozarks\, at least in yarns spun by hill folk and recorded by folklorist Vance Randolph in his book\, "We Always Lie to Strangers: Tall Tales from the Ozarks".

Susan is a fifth-generation Ozarker. Before settling in the hills of Northwest Ark ansas\, her kinfolks hailed from the southern Appalachians in Kentucky and Tennessee. Susan&rsquo\;s hillbilly heritage is something she is quite pr oud of and passionate about. Her areas of interest include religion\, ceme teries\, and traditional folkways of the Upland South. Susan currently ser ves on the boards of the Arkansas Historical Association\, Arkansas Chapte r of the Trail of Tears Association\, Heritage Trail Partners\, and Histor ic Cane Hill. In her spare time\, she enjoys gardening\, traveling\, birdw atching\, and genealogy. \;
