Join author\, conservationist\, photograph er and primatologist Beth Armstrong on Zoom for a rare glimpse into the co mplicated lives of captive gorillas through her new book \;Voices from the Ape House. Beth's many years as a gorilla keeper allowed her the privilege to observe the daily lives of this endearing\, sensitive an d socially savvy species. \;
\nBeth Armstrong \;began her ca reer in the zoo field as a keeper at the Columbus Zoo eventually working h er way up to head-keeper of gorillas. \; \;While simultaneously wo rking as a keeper\, she became increasingly involved in building the zoo&r squo\;s support of \;in situ \;conservation culminating in becomin g the first Field Conservation Coordinator at Columbus. In 1995\, she co-f ounded the first ZACC (Zoos and Aquariums: Committing to Conservation) con ference. Since then she has advised and helped organize the last twenty-fi ve years of ZACC conferences. \;She is currently the chair of the ZACC Steering Committee.
