Join us for a special conversation between two generations of Indigenous creators about their processes\, shared int erests\, and unique approaches.
\nWaubgeshig Rice is an author and j ournalist from Wasauksing First Nation. He has written three fiction title s\, and his short stories and essays have been \;published in numerous anthologies. His most recent novel\, Moon of the Crusted Snow\, was publi shed in 2018 and became a national bestseller. He \;graduated from Rye rson University&rsquo\;s journalism program in 2002\, and spent most of hi s journalism career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as \;a video journalist and radio host. He left CBC in 2020 to focus on his liter ary career. He lives in Sudbury\, Ontario with his wife and two sons.
\ nCole Pauls is a Tahltan comic artist\, illustrator and printmaker hail ing from Haines Junction (Yukon Territory) with a BFA in Illustration from Emily Carr University. Residing in Vancouver\, Pauls focuses on his two c omic series\, the first being Pizza Punks: a self contained comic strip ab out punks eating pizza\, the other being Dakwä\;kã\;da Warriors. In 2017\, Pauls won Broken Pencil Magazine&rsquo\;s Best Comic and Best Z ine of the Year Award for Dakwä\;kã\;da Warriors II. In 2020\, D akwä\;kã\;da Warriors won Best Work in an Indigenous Language fr om the Indigenous Voices Awards and was nominated for the Doug Wright Awar d categories\, The Egghead &\; The Nipper.
