Faleeha Hassan is an author and poet born in Najaf\, Iraq\, in 1967\, who currently lives in the United States. \;She earned an MA in Arabic literature and has published several collecti ons of poetry in Arabic: \;Being a Girl\, \;A Visit to the Museum of Shade\, \;Five Titles for My Friend&mdash\;The Sea\, \;Though L ater On\, \;Poems to Mother\, \;Gardenia Perfume\, and a collectio n of children&rsquo\;s poetry\, \;The Guardian of Dreams. \; \ ;Hassan immigrated to the US with her children in 2012 after first having fled Iraq for Turkey when her books of poetry landed her on multiple &lsqu o\;death lists&rsquo\; published by radicals. She will share her experienc es as a Muslim woman and poet in her native country of Iraq and her recent ly adopted home of the United States. \; \;A poetry reading\, ques tion and answer period and a book signing will follow her program. \;< /p>\n
