The public is invited to the monthly meeti ngs of the Lake-to-Prairie chapter of the Wild Ones\, a national not-for-p rofit organization that promotes the use of native plants in landscapes.\n
Volo Bog: Illinois&rsquo\; Quaking Wonderland
\nVolo Bog is p erhaps one of the best kept secrets in northeastern Illinois. This Illinoi s Nature Preserve features the state&rsquo\;s only open-water quaking bog where the trees shake with your steps\, carnivorous plants await unsuspect ing prey\, and poison sumac grows ready to enforce the &ldquo\;Stay on the Trail&rdquo\; rule. Naturalist Stacy Iwanicki will &ldquo\;Zoom in&rdquo\ ; to share a wealth of insights into this fascinating world that features dozens of endangered plants and an array of wildlife that finds home in Vo lo Bog and the other habitats in the State Natural Area.
