 ree 2-hour writing workshops\, we&rsquo\;ll explore these questions and en
 gage in contemplative writing practices.<br /><br />At its core\, contempl
 ative writing asks us to slow down\, know ourselves better\, and bring int
 ention to all communicative acts: reading and writing\, listening and spea
 king\, witnessing and testifying. Engaging these practices\, therefore\, h
 ighlights embodiment and the need to feel\, experience\, and act&mdash\;an
 d not just&nbsp\;think&nbsp\;our way through the world.</p>\n<p><strong>Fo
 r this workshop series\, come ready to write\, read\, play\, reflect\, med
 itate and interact with others.</strong></p>\n<p>This series will be led b
 y Beth Godbee\, Ph.D.\, a public educator and writer with deep commitments
  to social\, racial and environmental justice.</p>\n<p>Beth brings years o
 f experience as a writer and writing teacher (previously tenured professor
  in composition\, rhetoric and literacy studies). She regularly facilitate
 s writing workshops (in-person and online) and has worked in writing cente
 rs\, community literacy programs and writing across the curriculum program
 s for many years.</p>\n<p>This program is sponsored by the Brown Chair in
