The field of International Education is dy namic and multifaceted. K-12 school jurisdictions\, post-secondary educati on\, and the private sector will perceive it with very different lenses. I s it a profitable venture reserved for the world's privileged or a unifyin g endeavour that helps us address global challenges? This presentation wil l examine some of the many faces of international education and suggest ho w an aspiration of intercultural understanding may align them.

\nDr. Avis Beek is an Assistant Professor at Laurier\, and he r research interests are centred around international and comparative educ ation including non-formal education for refugee children and teacher trai ning for international contexts. Prior to joining the academic community a t Laurier in 2020\, Avis was a secondary school teacher in Nunavut\, Bahra in\, Malaysia\, Japan\, and the Czech Republic and has been working with a refugee education program in Greece. She teaches a range of courses in La urier's International Education Studies program.
