In this talk\, Dr. \;Straub \;will explore a variety of ways that teachers\, parents\, and community members can empower children and youth to take an active role in their community. What does a good citizen look like in 2021? In what ways might your child contribute to making this world a better place? How might you support the children and youth in your life to think critically about the issues and events that surround their world and help them make good decisions?
\n< p>Guest Speaker:\nDr. Jennifer Straub&rsquo\;s professional interes ts center on the development of pre-service teachers&rsquo\; sense of civi c engagement and citizenship to improve student achievement. Dr. Straub is a bilingual Mé\;tis scholar with extensive leadership\, research\, and teaching experience in the areas of Social Studies education\, Indigen ous pedagogies\, and second language acquisition. She teaches courses in I ntegrated Instruction and Curriculum Foundations in the Faculty of Educati on.
