\nEunice Trotter is from a pioneer Black family with roots in Ind iana dating back to the late 1790s. She attended public schools in Indiana polis and worked her way through college. She holds journalism undergradua te degrees and an MBA.
\nEunice began working at &ldquo\;The Indiana polis Recorder&rdquo\; during her high school years and in 1987 purchased controlling interest of that newspaper\, which is one of the oldest Africa n American newspapers in the country. She was the first African American e ditor at &ldquo\;The Indianapolis Star&rdquo\; and held editing or reporti ng positions at several other newspapers\, including &ldquo\;The New York Post&rdquo\;\, &ldquo\;Florida Today\,&rdquo\; the &ldquo\;Palm Beach Post &rdquo\; and the &ldquo\;Lafayette Journal and Courier.&rdquo\;
\nEu nice has won numerous reporting and writing awards and in 2017 was inducte d into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame. She has written several histor ical articles and received the Indiana Historical Society&rsquo\;s Dorothy Riker Historian Award. She recently published her first book\, &ldquo\;Bl ack in Indiana\,&rdquo\; which received a first-place award from the India na Press Women&rsquo\;s Club. \; The book also placed first in 2021 Fe deration of Press Women&rsquo\;s competition.
