 ong></p>\n<p><strong>Shyla Gaebel</strong>&nbsp\;is a Dakota woman from Si
oux Valley Dakota Nation\, who has been on a journey of reclaiming her roo
ts and identity. She was born and raised by her mom in Regina\, Saskatchew
an on Treaty Four Land. For as long as she can remember\, she was ashamed
and embarrassed about being an Indigenous woman. In 2018\, she decided to
find her birth father\, this was the piece that opened the door to healing
and reclaiming.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>She received her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Cer
tification in Regina\, Saskatchewan in 2019. In 2020\, a chance encounter
with another yogi from her reserve gifted her the opportunity to be able t
o visit Sioux Valley Dakota Nation for the very first time and meet family
she didn&rsquo\;t know she had. Since then\, she committed to stepping in
to her power as a strong Dakota woman and a lifelong journey of reclaiming
her culture and identity. She has had many opportunities to teach yoga\,
including at the First Nations University\, Sask Polytech\, Sask Urban Nat
ive Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP)\, Sask Gaming\, Indigenous Services
Canada\, and White Raven Healing Center. Recently she received her 500-ho
ur Trauma Informed Teacher Training Certificate and has made it her missio
n to teach the healing practice of yoga to Residential School Survivors an
d the First Nations Community. She strongly believes this modality should
be accessible and available to all.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>By teaching from an Ind
igenous perspective\, she shows how one can find balance &mdash\; mentally
\, emotionally\, physically and spiritually through the ceremony of yoga.&
