BAM! It&rsquo\;s Juneteenth - Be Alive through Music (BAM) is our annu al celebration \;of Juneteenth\, Black Music Month\, and LGBTQ Pride M onth. BAM is a series \;of experiences \;that highlight musical di versity and the historical intersections \;of race\, gender\, and sexu ality. Through live performances of music and storytelling\, \;we will \;celebrate the significance of the month of June to music enthusiast s\, \;members of \;the queer community\, and people of African des cent. \;

\nHosted by Quadeera Teart\; with performances by performances by \;Hued Songs \;(history &\; dance )\, \;Darius V. Daug htry \;(rhythm &\; spoken word)\; and featured musicia n avant-garde \;DJ Nune\, Lamar Harris spinning vinyl LPs ta king us on a musical expedition of sounds from the Eric Rawlins Re cord Collection housed in our special collection archive.
\n'The Eric Rawlins Experience' is an exploration of the archive through li ve performances and storytelling. \; \;Eric Rawlins Record Collect ion contains nearly 6\,000 albums covering jazz\, rhythm &\; blues\, hi p hop\, Latino and gospel music genres. Eric Rawlins was an exhibits coord inator for the Broward County Public Library and served as a second vice p resident of the Fort Lauderdale branch of the NAACP. Together we will cele brate the significance of the month of June.

he Broward County African American Research Library and Cultural Center (A
ARLCC) is located in the Sistrunk community\, one of the oldest histor
ically Black communities named for one of Fort Lauderdale&rsquo\;s first B
lack physicians. Opening to the public on October 26\, 2002\, AARLCC becam
e the third public library of its kind in the United States dedicated to t
he study of Black history and culture. The 60\,000 square-foot Center serv
es as a repository of materials related to the local\, national\, and inte
rnational voices of the African diaspora with more than 85\,000 books\, ma
nuscripts\, artifacts\, framed art\, print\, photography\, audiovisual\, a
nd documents held in our Adult Services Section and Special Collections. T
he Youth Services Section features a special collection of Coretta Scott K
ing Award books and the Ashley Bryan Art Collection from illustrators of A
frican Descent. AARLCC also features a 5\,000 sq. ft. museum\, a 300-seat
state-of-the-art theatre\, and a Computer Training Center.
