rich history of Women's Institutes across Lambton County with Archivist Ni
cole Aszalos. Learn about Tweedsmuir histories through the stories and mat
erials from the Lambton County Archives collection and discover how they s
hare the history of our local communities.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p style="text-alig
 n: justify\;"><em>Women's Institute&nbsp\;branches have contributed to the
bodies&nbsp\;of historical knowledge in their local communities.&nbsp\;In
the mid-1930s\, Lady Tweedsmuir (wife of Sir&nbsp\;John Buchan\, Lord Twe
edsmuir\, Governor General&nbsp\;of Canada) took an interest in Canadian W
omen's Institutes and encouraged branches to document&nbsp\;their local hi
stories. These Tweedsmuir Community History Books&nbsp\;document early set
tlers in an area\, local industries\,&nbsp\;churches\, schools\, and the a
ctivities of&nbsp\;Women's Institute branches. They now form a valuable re
 source for local history research.</em></p>\nhttps://lclibrary.libnet.info
