  the African American Community Fund.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;In 1983\, Bryan Stevens
 on\, a 23-year-old law student\, was starting an internship that involved 
 assisting inmates on Alabama&rsquo\;s death row. This led Stevenson to fou
 nd the&nbsp\;<a href="https://eji.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Equ
 al Justice Initiative</a> (EJI)\, a nonprofit law office in Montgomery ded
 icated to defending the poor\, the incarcerated\, and the wrongly convicte
 d.</p>\n<p>Anthony Ray Hinton is a former EJI client who spent 28 years on
  Alabama's Death Row. He was released in 2015 with Bryan Stevenson as his 
 lead attorney (his case is detailed in the book\, Just Mercy). Hinton is a
  current community educator at EJI\, with a bestselling book of his own ti
 tled\,&nbsp\;<a href="https://sjcpl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S99C224263
 6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sun Does Shine - How I Found Life\, 
 Freedom\, and Justice on Death Row</a>. Hinton will deliver an emotional p
 resentation about his story and the need for the abolition of the death pe
 nalty.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><span style="color: #ff0000\;"><strong>The auditoriu
 m has a seating capacity of 250 people. Seating is on a first-come\, first
 -served basis\, beginning with doors opening at 5:45 p.m. to those who hav
 e pre-registered. At 6:15p.m.\, seats that are not occupied by those who h
 ave pre-registered will be available to anyone. Overflow seating will be a
 vailable in the Ballroom where the presentation will be livestreamed.</str
