 ="_blank" rel="noopener">One Book\, One Michiana</a>&nbsp\;initiative\, an
 d is sponsored by the African American Community Fund.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;In 198
 3\, Bryan Stevenson\, a 23-year-old law student\, was starting an internsh
 ip that involved assisting inmates on Alabama&rsquo\;s death row. This led
  Stevenson to found the&nbsp\;<a href="https://eji.org/" target="_blank" r
 el="noopener">Equal Justice Initiative (EJI)</a>\, a nonprofit law office 
 in Montgomery dedicated to defending the poor\, the incarcerated\, and the
  wrongly convicted.</p>\n<p>Anthony Ray Hinton is a former EJI client who 
 spent 28 years on Alabama's Death Row. He was released in 2015 with Bryan 
 Stevenson as his lead attorney (his case is detailed in the book\, <em>Jus
 t Mercy</em>). Hinton is a current community educator at EJI\, with a best
 selling book of his own titled\,&nbsp\;<a href="https://sjcpl.bibliocommon
 s.com/v2/record/S99C2242636" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sun Does S
 hine - How I Found Life\, Freedom\, and Justice on Death Row</a>. Hinton w
 ill deliver an emotional presentation about his story and the need for the
  abolition of the death penalty.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong><span style="color
 : #ff0000\;">The auditorium has a seating capacity of 250 people. Seating 
 is on a first-come\, first-served basis\, beginning with doors opening at 
 6:00 p.m. to those who have pre-registered. At 6:15p.m.\, seats that are n
 ot occupied by those who have pre-registered will be available to anyone.<
