\nFor more than three decades\, Ja Nelle Davenport-Pleasure has immersed hersel f in the arts. \;She started out performing in spoken word competitio ns at the age of 11\, and she used that platform to overcome her fear of p ublic speaking. \; Her newest book of poetry &ndash\; Splitting 65 0 &ndash\; came out in 2021.
\nWant to share your poem with eve ryone in Urbana? \; Submit it to the Library&rsquo\;s Poems Across Urbana project! \; The project will print short (2-4 lines) original poems o n signs to be displayed throughout Urbana in August and September. \; If your poem is chosen\, you&rsquo\;ll receive a sign with your poem print ed on it for display.
