Finding the &ldquo\;right&rdquo\; name is often a challenge in family history research. The \;spelling of indivi dual and family names were often &ldquo\;in the ear of the listener&rdquo\ ; and \;were not standardized until well into the 20th century.
\n< p>Maureen Brady\, a former school librarian and computer educator\, has ov er thirty-five \;years experience with family history research. She ha s traced her Scottish roots back \;to the end of the 17th century and beyond\, and has also pursued Chicago and the \;Midwest\, the trans-Al legheny U.S.\, Quebec\, Irish and Swedish research. \;Maureen has made numerous presentations to Illinois and Wisconsin genealogical \;socie ties\, libraries\, conferences and workshops\, including presenting at the National Genealogical Society Conference in the States\; she has also pre sented webinars for \;the Brigham Young University Library family hist ory webinar series. \;She is a member of the Genealogical Speakers Gui ld\, as well as a life member of the \;Aberdeen and Northeast Scotland Family History Society\, the Chicago Genealogical \;Society\, the Ohi o Genealogy Society and the McHenry County (Illinois) Genealogical \;S ociety.\nContact the Ask Us Desk at askus@dglibrary.org with questions. \;
