Tropicaleiza Dance and Drum Company \; founded in 2006 and directed by Julie Simon is a multidimensional dynamic magnanimous group of powerful diverse women fully expressing themselves th rough the joyful acts of dancing and drumming. They exist to impart streng th\, vigor and joy into people&rsquo\;s lives empowering them through comp elling storytelling\, movement workshops\, and audience interaction. Uniqu e in the fact that they drum and dance simultaneously\, their repertoire h onors the complex and vital art of the feminine\, incorporating grounded u ninhibited expression\, fluid voluminous contemporary movement and the pla yfulness and joy of Brazilian dance and music. \;
\nThis series\ , curated by acclaimed choreographer\, teacher and producer Jamie Nichols\ , presents top dance companies from Southern California performing site-sp ecific work in non-traditional performance spaces around Brand Library. Th is year performances will be live and in person. Tropicaleiza performs on Saturday\, May 14 at 5pm. The Dance Series also includes an interactive Su nday workshop with an opportunity to meet the artists\, ask questions and learn more about dance!
