ss than half a decade\, Aashay noticed a lack of represen
tation in bookstores of Black\, Indigenous and Racialized books. Aashay st
arted Rad Riot Books as a way to educate readers on anti-racism\, Indigeno
us and Black solidarity and create a space for queer and racialized newcom
ers to feel validated. Canada is a country of immigrants. Most Canadian mi
grants are from countries in Asia\, Africa and South America. It is time f
or immigrants to feel represented in the literature we consume in Canada.
Rad Riot Books is an intentionally curated collection of books that encour
age readers to diversify and decolonize their bookshelves. Aashay is an ac
tivist\, community advocate and writer. Their work has been featured in In
sideWaterloo and Textile: Issue Two. You can learn more about Rad Riot Boo
