DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning more about artificial intellige
nce and machine learning? Join us for a series of conversations and even
some hands-on learning to become more knowledgeable about this field. This
is an introductory course but you will have the opportunity to go in-dept
h if you so choose. This month we'll discuss "The Every" by Dave Eggers..

X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>The&nbsp\;Every\, or at last a sense of or
der\, or&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;final days of free will\, or limitless choice is
killing&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;world by Dave Eggers can be placed on hold <a href

uthor=Eggers">here</a>.</p>\n<p>This event is in-person at Calvert Library
Prince Frederick but online attendance can be accommodated.&nbsp\; <a hre
 f="https://www.linkedin.com/groups/14086290/">LinkedIn group</a> is also a
vailable.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Machine learning is the science of getting comput
ers to act without being explicitly programmed. In the past decade\, machi
ne learning has given us self-driving cars\, practical speech recognition\
, effective web search\, and a vastly improved understanding of the human
genome. Machine learning is so pervasive today that you probably use it do
zens of times a day without knowing it. Many researchers also think it is
the best way to make progress towards human-level AI. In this course\, you
will learn about the ethics and concerns of creating AI/ML applications f
or various industries\, how AI/ML will affect our work\, lives\, and overa
ll humanity.&nbsp\; We will also explore existing projects\, training AI/M
L systems\, and using various ML frameworks (TensorFlow\, Juptyr\, SciKit-
Learn\, Python). For some of the exploration work\, basic knowledge of alg
ebra\, programming logic\, and the use of a free tier AWS cloud account wo
uld help you to engage more deeply with the content but it's OK to just li
sten in. If you want to dig deep but need to do a little catching up first
\, log in to the library's LinkedIn Learning classes to brush up on any of
these skills.&nbsp\; Some recommended classes:</p>\n<p>Programming Founda
tions: Fundamentals (2 hrs)</p>\n<p>Programming Foundations: Fuzzy Logic (
 41 min)</p>\n<p>Introduction to AWS for Non-Engineers: 1 Cloud Concepts (1
hr)</p>\n<p><strong>A couple free Coursera courses could also be a resour
