 Public Library\, there was a Columbia Library Association\, beginning in N
 ovember 1866. This organization failed\, and the books they'd collected bu
 rned in the fire of Academic Hall in 1892\, but nearly eight years later\,
  the women of the Tuesday Club made establishing a Columbia Free Library t
 heir main goal and opened a library in the O'Rear building on Broadway in 
 April 1899. We'll discuss the lives and tombstones of these founding mothe
 rs and fathers of the library movement in Columbia.</p>\n<p>We will meet i
 n the library lobby and walk down the block to the cemetery.</p>\n<p>All a
