\nThe First Gre at Migration from the end of reconstruction through 1940 created the &ldqu o\;Harlem Renaissance.&rdquo\; The Second Great Migration from 1950 to 197 0\, spurred the Civil Rights Movement. It took courage and determination a nd sometimes outright craftiness to leave the southern home and relocate i n the North.
\n"The Food and The Folks of The Great Migration" inclu des history and stories of The Great Migration\; along with sample recipes of foods that would be brought to eat along the way\, since African Ameri cans could not stop and dine at their leisure and choice due to the rules of segregation. It also includes the story of the presenter's family and h ow they came to live in South Jersey. \;

\nMichelle Washingto n Wilson is a writer\, performer\, and storyteller from rural Newtonville\ , New Jersey. Michelle has been writing and telling stories for more than 30 years. Michelle earned a bachelor&rsquo\;s degree in Speech and Theater Education from Monmouth University in West Long Branch\, New Jersey. She has traveled throughout North America and the Caribbean sharing stories fr om around the world. Michelle is an active member of NJ Storytelling Netwo rk and The National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS). \;
\nMs. Wilson has to her credit a two-act play &ldquo\;Dusty Days Gone\, T he story of the people who harvest the crops.&rdquo\; \; It is the sto ry of migrant workers on farms during the 1950&rsquo\;s. Michelle\, a Cert ified Life Skills Instructor\, has presented at several conferences on Wom en&rsquo\;s Studies\, Family Literacy\, Adult Education including the pres tigious East Tennessee University Conference on Early Childhood Education in Johnson City\, Tennessee. She is the subject in two books including "Le gendary Locals of The Pine Barrens of New Jersey\," by the late Karen Rile y and "Small Towns Black Lives" by Professor Wendel White. \;
\nChef Michelle Wilson has earned an Associates in Applied Science in Culina ry Arts from the Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing NJ. By combining her teaching skills with culinary arts\, Chef Wilson is a much sought-aft er Personal Chef and culinary instructor. Michelle connected her culinary skills with theatrics and delivered a humorous punch line to The Gospel Br unch at the House of Blues where she entertained as the Church Lady announ cer.
\nMichelle continues to keep the tradition alive of having stor ies to tell\, &ldquo\;Because everybody has something that they do well.&r dquo\;
