The youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar\, Matlin&rsquo\;s acting career recently achieved another milestone as her 2021 film CODA swept every category it was nominated in at the 202 2 Academy Awards. \;A longtime advocate for deaf rights\, Matlin conti nues to break down barriers for herself and others through her acting\, aw areness\, and writing. As she has so aptly stated\, &ldquo\;The only thing I can&rsquo\;t do is hear. The rest is there for the taking.&rdquo\;
\ nRichard Costes will join Marlee in conversation. A deaf artist of colo r\, Costes has worked as a director\, playwright\, and accessibility consu ltant throughout Chicago. He is a 2019 recipient of a 3Arts award for his work throughout the city. He was a member of the 2019 Deaf Theatre Action Planning Session\, and is a member of DisabilityLead\, the 3Arts Artist Co uncil\, and currently sits on the board of the National Theatre of the Dea f.
