In this special Burlington Heritage Week p resentation\, Elder Garry Sault talks about the Between the Lakes Treaty ( Treaty 3) of which Burlington is a part. Treaty 3 covers more than three m illion acres across lakes Erie\, Huron and Ontario. We're thrilled that th is spellbinding storyteller and First Nations historian\, who joined us vi rtually at the Burlington Literary Festival in November 2021\, returns to BPL&mdash\;this time in person! Garry Sault is an Ojibway Elder from Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN). His people signed over twenty pre-confederation treat ies with the Crown that cover most of the Golden Horseshoe. A veteran who served in the U.S. Navy\, he resides with his family on the MCFN Reserve\, where he has welcomed chiefs\, premiers\, environmentalists\, and many mo re to their traditional territory.
