For 2022 the theme is "Translations and In terpretations." Based on the weavers of the Bauhaus movement's collaborati ve and experimentation\, artisans will start with the same basic striped w arp and use different structures and fibers to create their own unique han dwoven cloth. The cloth is then sewn and finished into a variety of produc ts by the Center&rsquo\;s team of volunteer sewers and finishers. \;\n
The Hartford Artisans Weaving Center is a small non-profit located in Hartford. Since 2009\, their artisan program has welcomed people 55 and older or people of any age with blindness or visual impairment to our cre ative weaving community. Artisans are taught the art of floor loom weaving and earn a small stipend for the fabric they create. Currently they have 34 artisans\, from Hartford and the Greater Hartford region. All their pro ducts are handwoven at their studios at 42 Woodland Street and sold at the ir Annual Open House/Sale\, a small number of retail shops\, our online sh op and our studio shop. In addition to the artisan program\, the center te aches classes to the public and share their mission through community even ts and in exhibits.
