  author and illustrator. He doodled his way through school\, then worked a
 s a sign painter\, set designer\, printer and advertising art director. Af
 ter a successful career in advertising\, he gradually made the switch to c
 reating children&rsquo\;s books. Tom&rsquo\;s books &ndash\; several of wh
 ich are New York Times Best Sellers -- are acclaimed for their humor\, exp
 ressive characters\, and rich &ndash\; sometimes hidden &ndash\; detail. H
 e&rsquo\;s known for creating books that appeal to children and adults ali
 ke\, and his wide portfolio of books offers something for every age. Tom h
 as collaborated with several authors including numerous books with Beth Fe
 rry\, the late Amy Krouse Rosenthal\, and Sherri Duskey Rinker\; as well a
 s writing and illustrating his own creations. &ldquo\;The Umbrella Book\,&
 rdquo\; his newest with Beth Ferry\, will be released in the spring of 202
 3.</p>\n<p>Erika Swanson is an award-winning illustrator\, comic artist\,
